No such exchange Mick?

Did you mean Woolley?

BT Wholesale information
ADSL status:
Enabled as of 07/07/2004
ADSL Max status:
Enabled as of 31/03/2006

Should be 'up to' 8Mbit available, depending on line length, sadly no LLU due to it being a small exchange.

Serves (approx): 1,701 residential premises
68 non-residential premises.

Re: BT Fibre To Cabinet Phases 4b / 5 Announced

I think that's the only good thing here is that I'm not too far from the exchange and last had 6.5Mb on ADSL

Exchange = SMHXT

Blimey, I thought we were out in the sticks.

EALOW. Not too many LLUs, and no cable. On the plus side, I'm 403m directly away from the place and 805m by road!

In a not inconsiderable amount of places Kymmy and Chris wouldn't have the option of DSL full stop, they'd maybe be using a wireless solution or satellite. We don't do too badly for availability in the grand scheme.

Re: BT Fibre To Cabinet Phases 4b / 5 Announced

Well, I'm not posting the name of my exchange, it wouldn't take too long for anyone to piece together enough info to pinpoint my house on a map if I did that. I like to have just a teensy bit of anonymity.

The DSL becomes unuseable about another half a mile up the road from here. Beyond that point, the Scottish Government's universal broadband policy has paid for anyone who wants it to have two-way satellite installed.

Re: BT Fibre To Cabinet Phases 4b / 5 Announced

Oldham is in the first phase and things appear to be getting hectic, Openreach and Enterprise Van Hire vehicles are all over the place. New pits and cabinets are appearing like mushrooms, much more work than I would have thought would be required, considering all the other areas in the first phase it's a wonder there is any unemployment currently.

Are there anymore lists to come or is that it? I can't believe Sittingbourne, Tonbridge, and Ashford get the upgrade and we don't being the County Town, oh well.

I,d imagine BT would be targeting areas with the least competition first

They are doing this wherever ISPs have asked them to go, along with some that have been done for other reasons, political, local / regional, etc.

As you might note most of the exchanges above have cable and multiple LLU operators.
