Re: LHC nears restart after repairs
Interview with a CERN physicist
3D animation showing some collisions
So far the collisions have only been at energies slightly above the injection energy, they hope to have the american tevatron beat by christmas. The detector teams will be working on calibrating and checking they match simulated results.

Re: LHC nears restart after repairs
Reading one of those comments at the end made by Mr Anonymous(and aren't there a lot of them) has cheered me up no end..so much pseudo science that makes even less sense than that of the LHC.

Re: LHC nears restart after repairs
I suppose physicists are joining the biologists with being stalked by nut cases. I blame the buzzwords and phrases that don't explain a thing but the press insist on using.
BBC journalists come to cern and train scientists in this "public communication" needless to say I don't like it.

Re: LHC nears restart after repairs
The following has nothing to do with LHC but is a related story to dark matter
Scientists have possibly found dark matter
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/new...ffset=0&page=1
Quote:
What might it consist of?
It consists of weakly interacting massive particles (Wimps) and massive compact halo objects (Machos) — black holes or brown dwarfs that do not emit light
|
So there's machos and wimps

But it's more than doubled the record for particle collision rate...

Re: LHC nears restart after repairs
Thanks, I've not been keeping up with the LHC.
